NorthBay’s vision is to transform lives by taking action. Their mission is to challenge people through educational and retreat experiences to reinforce that people’s attitudes and actions have a lasting impact on their lives, communities, and the environment.
The establishment was initially designed as an environmental studies camp for middle-school children; the center has since expanded its mission to include church groups, public school programs, and corporate retreats. KGRW and Associates designed the administrative building used to train professionals, particularly teachers from all over the U.S. Metropolitan Studio® collaborated on the exterior materials and colors and the interior design and furniture procurement.
The site is located on the Chesapeake Bay; the camp includes cabins, bunkhouses, staff quarters, classrooms, a wet lab for science studies, offices, an observation tower, and much more. The new educational building incorporates the urban architecture style, natural materials, corrugated metal, bright colors, and patterned carpet projects positive energy. It is the perfect environment to hold conferences and classes, and the educational building will be the headquarters for future camps and expansion.
